I have enjoyed a number of this author`s books but after reading thevprologue and first page decided to give this one a pass. I found it improbable that a man rescuing a woman from sometimes savage Indians would take time out to have sex with her. I found the writing awkward.

And One Rode West A Novel Heather Graham 9780440211488 Books Reviews

What a wonderful historical romance story by this author. I enjoyed this book and series very much. This is one of my favorite authors and her stories never disappoints me. This story was written with all of the elements that make a book a classic. Love, suspense and romance.
I wish I could give this book more than five stars, it was that good.
Could the heroine have been any more obnoxious? Sorry, but I want to like the main characters.
Had a very good story lines. Seemed to repeat to often the romance scenes. The descriptions seemed to be repeated and we're always the same. Pretty much I figured the ending not to long into the book.
It was a good read. I know that there are 5 books before this one which I did not read but the author told enough about them that it was smooth flowing. The prologue, however, was cheesey and really was off putting. I almost didn't continue with it. I was glad that I did as I did enjoy the rest of the book.
The story would have been worthwhile if there was more to the story of the Indian involvement at that time.

However, I'm not a prude, but the detailed intimate interaction between the main characters was excessive. I'm sure it was no different with married couples then or now. But, it would have been worthwhile if the story focused on history of the area and not on the sex. And to think Lady Chatterly's Lover was banned in Boston.

There were numerous typo's and even names which were wrong in the book as it progressed. Inter-mixed Callie and Crista. Maybe the proof reader needs to proof better.
This story was hard to enjoy. I do not like story with all the arguments and strong arm tactics of the primary chacters. This story was descriptive in places but the storyline of the characters were absurd and unbelievable in their attitudes and actions toward each other. Got to page 156 and couldn't read further. Deleted!!!
This is the third in the Cameron Saga Civil War trilogy (which follows the Cameron stories told in Graham's North American Women trilogy). I highly recommend the whole Cameron Saga--all 6 books. They are rich in history, exceptionally well-told romances with amazing detail, seamless dialog and a family of wonderful men and women you will love with stories that speak to the heart.

This last in the series is the story of Christa Cameron, sister to Jesse and Daniel, who we met in the first two books in the Civil War trilogy. This one begins in 1865. The Civil War is over and the South is reeling with a painful "Reconstruction." Cameron Hall is threatened with destruction and to save it, a Yankee who is a part of the Cameron family must sign for it. Jesse, the only Yankee male in the family, is not available, so Christa, left alone, talks Col. Jeremy McCauley, Callie's brother, into marrying her so he can sign. (You had to read And One Wore Gray to understand the players.) It is a marriage of convenience for Christa as she hates Jeremy; but Jeremy has other ideas. When he goes west to Indian country, he intends to take his new wife.

Like the first two stories, you will laugh and you will cry, as you become a part of the wonderful Cameron family. In this one we meet a spoiled Southern belle doted on by her two older brothers who has become independent by overcoming the challenges of the war. She kept Cameron Hall alive while her brothers were off fighting but now they are back and with her fiancé dead, she fears she has no place. At the beginning of the story, I didn't much like either Christa or Jeremy (she was a shrew and he was an uncaring lout), but they both change as life in the West demands much of them.

Graham has done a superb job of bringing to life a critical time in America's history and the struggle to rebuild lives after the war than decimated the country. She has produced a series of keepers to read and re-read! I recommend you read them in order.

Here's the whole Cameron Saga series

The North American Women trilogy

-Sweet Savage Eden (England and the first settlers in Virginia)
-A Pirate's Pleasure (the pirates of the Caribbean and Virginia)
-Love Not a Rebel (the Revolutionary War...and Virginia)

The Cameron Civil War trilogy

-One Wore Blue
-And One Wore Gray
-And One Rode West
