This was a super quick and easy read. I finished in a little under an hour. It reminded me more of a long blog post rather than a book. With lots of suggestions for what to do. There isn't much, if any, specifics on "how to" accomplish the task. And it doesn't tackle basic cleaning tasks at all. She points you to another book for that.There are some worksheets for some activities. Those are somewhat helpful with giving a list of possible "steps" you can take. They are more for evaluating progress though. Each section has some explanation as to why you should be teaching your child whatever is presented. Then there are a few bullet points of example activities that may help.
I was looking for more "how to" or more steps about how the author went about teaching these things. I want to incorporate home ec into my homeschool routine but I'm overwhelmed with where and how to start.
What I can, and will do eventually, is take the suggestions in this book (and of course my own) and break them down into a step by step type of format. Using that to teach my children until they achieve mastery. I'll even create my own checklists inspired by the ones found in this book.
I'm sure I could spend more money on more of a home ec curriculum or a more detailed book and get the break downs I'm looking for. Like most, I'm on a budget.
In the end, for the e-book price, I'm satisfied. I was able to find inspiration and more direction than I had before reading. But, I wouldn't find myself recommending this book for purchase.

Training Your Children in Home Economics is a rare gem of a home economics course because it is simple, practical, and doesn't assume mom knows everything there is to know about home management. I am using this book with my 7 year old and 11 year old and as a resource for myself. This is the perfect book for your homeschool as a home economics course or just to work through with your children so, as the author says, you won't have to do their laundry for them when they are 40!
I can not believe I spent money on this. It's not a book, it's more like a long blog post.
Was a good ebook, worth the money. I was looking for something a little more detailed, but is a great place to start.
Good and informative. Gave some helpful ideas I hadn't thought of, though my kids are older. Plan to use some of the lists this year. Thanks!
