Wait Beloved Bloody Time eBook Tracy CooperPosey Reviews
********** 1.1 Wait* 6-stars (so I cheated)
OMG. Such a clever, twisted, frustrating, wonderful mix of missed chances, time travel and living as a vampire. This is an amazing vignette of Christian and Natalia crossing paths over decades. It is important to have read Bannockburn Binding first, and this may just break your heart.
Tracy Cooper-Posey continues to flesh out her fantasy human-vampire world in this one, which should be read immediately before OR after Bannockburn Binding (I read it after but think it would have helped me understand the future part of Bannockburn Binding a lot quicker if I had read this one first; I just would not have been as drawn into Tally's story and may not have gone on to read Bannockburn Binding, which has a fantastic plot and romance that I read several years and thousands of books ago and never forgot)! This novella provides some good background to the outing of vampires and how their place vis a vis humans evolved from the 21st century through the year 2262, when the action for Bannockburn Binding, the actual first full novel in the time travel series, takes over. So, this is a prequel in every sense, but it focuses on vampiress Tally's evolving relationship over the centuries with Christian/Lee, who becomes a key character, along with Tally and medieval Scotsman Rob, in Bannockburn Binding.
This one was a bit choppy, as each encounter between the two over the years only lasts for about a day! Quite frustrating, when the attraction is there but they meet and keep letting other factors break them apart. A lot of missed opportunities and marginal heat. So, though it's a tempting appetizer, it's not a main course that I could really sink my teeth into! However, on the plus side, unlike the book it supplements, this one is told sequentially rather than jumping back and forth between the past and future.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book provided by the author; this is my voluntary and honest review.
l a series and book to my own heart. i love everyone that comes out and wait for the next one as soon as i get finished.they are great stories
Generally speaking, for me, a five star book is that rare book that I would definitely re-read over and over. Whereas I can't say I would necessarily read this back story over and over again, I am very glad I read it and because of it I am now re-reading Bannockburn Binding, which I would have done anyway, but now I'm doing it right away. It's been awhile since I've read Bannockburn Binding and now that I've gotten this insight into Tally and Lee's past together I look forward to experiencing it again with greater understanding of where they are coming from when they meet Rob.
Although it probably won't get multiple reads, it's really just not meant to be that kind of a book, it rates five stars from me because it, in my opinion, was well written, fun to read and just gives me that much more of a fulfilling re-read of Bannockburn Binding, which is what I believe it was meant to do. This is actually kind of a sad back story because we see how much Tally and Lee care for each other, but struggle so much over so many years to maintain any kind of a relationship with everything they have going against them. And it gives insight into how lonely and guarded a life these guys live. Having read BB first, as intended, I was able to smile despite their struggles because I know it will all work out for them eventually. And now as I re-read Bannockburn Biding all of the struggles and disappointments they experience in Wait helps me understand and appreciate them and where they're coming from so much more than I did the first read through.
There were just a few, three maybe four, editing issues of a word being left out or such but that didn't detract from my experience because they were so few and I really just like her style of writing. I've read several other stories so far and have enjoyed them all.
I absolutely recommend Wait for those who have already read and enjoyed Bannockburn Binding. I think as far as those who have not yet read the first in the series, this tale could possibly be read first, for the fact that you get to know Tally and Lee and it will make you want to read on to see their HEA, but I don't know that I'd suggest doing so because if you're not familiar with their world it could confuse more than entice.
I absolutely Love this series of books. I can't wait for book 4 to come out.
If you've read BRANNOCKBURN BINDING then you know about Tally.WAIT is the beginning of her story and explains so much about the why and how of everything.
I purchased the first book of the Beloved Bloody Time Series, BANNOCKBURN BINDING, when it was on sale; but I just got around to reading it yesterday. As soon as I finished it, I purchased this prequel because the tension and history that exists between Tally and Lee is so much an element that must be overcome in BANNOCKBURN BINDING that why it is there is an important part of their story.
This one was hard to read in a way that it hurt to watch them keep passing and knowing what the outcome would be.
Love this series though!
